To determine whether DSTYK plays a role in tumorigenesis of colorectal cancer we characterized DSTYK expression in the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and TCGA databases and found that DSTYK is strongly expressed in the cytoplasm of most malignant cells and that the high expression of DSTYK in human colon cancer specimens is associated with tumor progression and/or poor prognosis (Ponten et al., 2011). This evidence concerns the gene DSTYK and colonic neoplasm.
