Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (r‐tPA) is an effective treatment for patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) if administered within 4.5 hr of stroke onset (National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke rt‐PA Stroke Study Group, 1995;Hacke et al., 2008; NINDS rt‐PA Stroke Study Group, 1995). The gene discussed is PLAT; the disease is androgen insensitivity syndrome.
