Downregulation of the anti‐inflammatory and cardioprotective angiotensin (AT)‐1‐7 pathway secondary to downregulation of angiotensin converting enzyme ACE2, the SARS‐CoV‐2 receptor, direct infection of the myocardium through ACE2 expressing cardiac cells and hyperinflammation have been suggested to be of importance [10, 11, 12, 13].
