GBA1 and Parkinson disease: Interestingly, a recent study shows that LRRK2 inhibitors reduce the accumulation of phosphorylated α-syn, as well as that of oxidized dopamine products, possibly by a Rab10-dependant restoration of glucocerebrosidase activity—which may present a point of convergence with mutations in GBA1, another major PD risk factor (Ysselstein et al., 2019).
