On the one hand, galactose-based polymers have been shown to have affinity for the overexpressed asialoglycoprotein (ASGP-R) in liver cancer [30], but also for the prometastatic protein galectin 3 (Gal3) over-expressed in prostate cancer [31], colon [32], breast cancer [33], melanoma [34], multiple myeloma [35] and hemangiosarcoma [36].
