A statistically significant increase in the risk of more severe atherosclerosis (that is, of having the Gensini score in the higher half of the distribution) was observed for the PON1 c.575G allele carriers (odds ratio (OR) = 1.27, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.004–1.617, p = 0.046). The gene discussed is PON1; the disease is atherosclerosis.
