TIMP1 and malaria: Outer membrane protein complex (OMPC) from Neisseria meningitidis has been used as a carrier in the licensed Haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate vaccine [55,56] and also as a carrier for protein antigens, such as Pfs25H and Pfs230 malaria antigens, whose linking to OMPC resulted in an increased immunogenicity in mice compared to Pfs25H alone or physically mixed to OMPC and Pfs230-EPA, respectively [11,57].
