The cholinergic AChE form is a tetramer formed by subunits encoded by the AChE‐T (tailed) transcript, which co‐exists in brain with minor amounts of the AChE‐R (“readthrough”) variant whose expression is increased in stress (Meshorer et al., 2002), and AD (Campanari et al., 2016). Here, ACHE is linked to Alzheimer disease.
