pdC1INH administered intravenously has been shown to be effective and well tolerated in the prophylactic treatment of HAE in children, as well as in adolescents and adults.12,20–24 In addition, prophylactic therapy with IV pdC1INH has been found to improve QoL in pediatric patients with HAE, especially at higher doses.25,26 SC injection of C1INH therapy should make administration easier, especially for adolescent and pediatric patients and their parents/caregivers.12 SC administration also facilitates the delivery of high concentrations of C1INH with low volumes of injection. This evidence concerns the gene SERPING1 and hereditary angioedema.
