Independent of hypertension, endothelin increases glomerular permeability to albumin, and selective antagonists of the ETA receptor attenuate this effect (Saleh, Boesen, Pollock, Savin, & Pollock, 2010), indicating that endothelin, and thus a reduction of shear stress, may play a significant role in the progression of glomerulopathy in hypertension. Here, ALB is linked to hypertensive disorder.
