IGHE and anaphylaxis: IgE-mediated food allergy is estimated to affect 2%–3% of children.1 It is the most common cause of potentially life-threatening anaphylaxis in this age group.2 Between 1998 and 2012, there were a total of 14 675 hospital admissions coded as food-induced anaphylaxis in the England and Wales.2 The fear of anaphylaxis and need for dietary limitation results in a significant impairment in health-related quality of life (HRQL) in affected individuals and their families.3
