Tumor suppressor P53-binding protein 2 (TP53BP2, also known as apoptosis-stimulating p53 protein 2, ASPP2), a p53 activator, negatively regulates the mevalonate pathway and inhibits the growth of HCC cells, indicating that activation of the mevalonate pathway can play an important role in liver cancer development. This evidence concerns the gene TP53BP2 and liver cancer.
