Clinical data showed that methylprednisolone administration at the beginning of the early pulmonary phase of illness remarkably improved pulmonary involvement, oxygen saturation, dyspnoea, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature and inflammatory markers (e.g. CRP and IL-6 serum levels) in patients, suggesting that methylprednisolone could be an efficient therapeutic agent for hospitalised severe COVID-19 patients at the pulmonary phase. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and COVID-19.
