Selgantolimod (GS-9688) is an orally active, potent, and selective toll-like receptor 8 (TLR8) agonist in clinical development for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. It was shown to induce a sustained antiviral response in the woodchuck model of CHB [173,174], and was well-tolerated in CHB patients in a randomized blind placebo-controlled study [109]. This evidence concerns the gene TLR8 and chronic hepatitis B virus infection.
