In some studies, they have been identified by immunofluorescence labeling on sections of human glioma surgical specimens, using MSC markers, such as CD105 and PDGFRβ, or markers typically expressed by CAFs, such as FSP1/S100A4, α-SMA, and the fibroblast and mesodermal cell marker TE-7 (Table 1) [3,9,17,22]. The gene discussed is S100A4; the disease is central nervous system cancer.
