In this study, we constructed two supramolecular assemblies consisting of three components: cucurbit[n]urils (CB[n]s, where n = 7 or 8), which are biocompatible macrocycles that strongly bind organic cations33–35; hyaluronic acid (HA), a water-soluble, biocompatible, biodegradable polymer that is specifically recognized by receptors (e.g., CD44 and RHAMM) overexpressed on the surface of cancer cells36,37; and 4-(4-bromophenyl)-pyridin-1-ium (BrBP), an organic phosphor (Fig. 1). This evidence concerns the gene CD44 and cancer.
