A multivariable stepwise backward linear regression model for log10 (PTX3) as the independent variable, with explanatory variables such as log10 (BMI) values or waist circumference or fat percentage and plasma levels of log10 (TNF-alpha), log10 (IL-6), MCP-1, log10 (estradiol), SHBG levels, FAI, and log10 (HOMA-IR) values, showed that all anthropometric parameters (BMI values, waist circumference, and fat percentage) were positively affecting plasma PTX3 levels while log10 (Estradiol) levels were inversely affecting plasma PTX3 levels in the PCOS group. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and polycystic ovary syndrome.
