Indeed, HuR has been shown to: (i) Decrease PTBP1 binding to the hepatitis C viral RNA, resulting in higher virus replication [48]; (ii) compete with TTP binding to the CPB2 mRNA and AUF1 binding to the ATF3 in HepG2 cells [49,50]; (iii) cooperate with AUF1 to regulate Mat1A and Mat2A mRNA expression in a rat model of HCC [51]; (iv) compete with CUGBP2 for binding to the PTGS2 mRNA in cancer cells such as colorectal HT-29 cells [52,53,54].
