HMOX1 and diabetes mellitus: To this end, together with general parameters (such as blood glucose and insulin, amounts of water and food taken, excreted urine volume, bodyweight), we assessed some oxidative stress biochemical markers (lipid hydroperoxides (LOOH) and nitrite/nitrate levels, non-proteic thiol group (RSH) amount, activity and expression of γ-glutamyl-cysteine-synthetase (γ-GCS), endothelial and inducible nitric oxide synthases (i-NOS, e-NOS) and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) expression) of some organs involved in oxidative stress-induced diabetes and associated complications.
