Interestingly, TMEM79 is a predisposition gene for atopic dermatitis (AD) (Sasaki et al., 2013; Saunders et al., 2013), the most common chronic and relapsing inflammatory skin disease that affects 20% children and 5–10% adults but with poorly defined molecular etiology (Oyoshi et al., 2009; Dainichi et al., 2018). This evidence concerns the gene TMEM79 and Alzheimer disease.
