Since obesity and alteration in inflammation and matrix metalloproteinases are important underlying factors associated with the metabolic, hormonal and reproductive abnormalities in PCOS (13-15), this study was intended to determine the influence of increase in body mass index on MMP-9, nitric oxide and interleukin-10 in PCOS. The gene discussed is MMP9; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
