The use of specific α7 nAChR agonists could potentially lead to important clinical treatments for other neurodegenerative diseases in the eye as well as in the brain where α7 nACh receptors have been shown to be involved; such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Huntington’s diseases (Foucault-Fruchard and Antier, 2017).
