Out of the genetic polymorphisms previously shown to be associated with risk for AMD21–34, single nucleotide polymorphisms rs800292 (p = 0.0012), rs1410996 (p = 0.00019) and rs1061170 (p = 0.000064) within the complement factor H (CFH) gene and rs11200638 (p = 0.00012) within the high temperature requirement A serine peptidase 1 (HTRA1) gene were associated with a higher risk for having AMD in our cohort. This evidence concerns the gene HTRA1 and age-related macular degeneration.
