Research in human CE patients and secondary CE mouse models indicate that during chronic infection, the immune responses has mixed T helper 1 (Th1), T helper 2 (Th2) and T regulatory (Treg) profile, which plays an important role in promoting the progression of the disease by the secretion of both IFN-γ and IL-4 [9–11]. This evidence concerns the gene IL4 and cholesteryl ester measurement.
