TGFB1 and cleft palate: In Table 2, we list 24 HM-specific and 11 WT-specific genes based on their functional relevance by any one or more of the following criteria: (1) falling under the TGF-β signaling pathway, (2) contributing to palatogenesis or cleft palate in mice, (3) being involved in palatal cellular processes, such as EMT, apoptosis, differentiation, proliferation that are functional in palatal and craniofacial morphogenesis, and (4) being directly or indirectly regulated by TGF-β signaling.
