TGFB1 and pulmonary fibrosis: Several in vivo studies described reduced inflammation and lung fibrosis upon TGF-β receptor inhibition with LY2109761, a TGF-β receptor I/II kinase inhibitor which interferes with SMAD1/2 phosphorylation, attenuates TGF-β signaling, and suppresses production of the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-6, IL-7R, and IL-8 [175, 176].
