Abnormal aggregates of alpha-synuclein (α-syn) constitute the common histopathological hallmark of neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s disease (PD), multiple systems atrophy (MSA) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB); all grouped as α-synucleinopathies [1,2,3,4]. This evidence concerns the gene SNCA and Lewy body dementia.
