In order to assess the anti-inflammatory potential of lin-SB056-1 and (lin-SB056-1)2-K, we examined their ability to reduce the production of relevant inflammatory mediators (i.e., IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8 and TNF-α) that are massively secreted by lung epithelial cells and/or immune cells in response to P. aeruginosa infection and are commonly elevated in the airways of CF patients [31]. The gene discussed is IL1B; the disease is cystic fibrosis.
