The elevated levels of IL-6 in T1D were reinforced by another study in this review, in which the authors identified increased levels of proinflammatory cytokines including IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α and decreased levels of anti-inflammatory cytokines including IL-10 and IL-13, which significantly correlated with different bacterial groups in T1D patients [24]. This evidence concerns the gene IL10 and type 1 diabetes mellitus.
