The first report of the ceRNA in cancer is phosphatase and tensin homolog pseudogene 1 (PTENP1), a pseudogene of phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN), and it showed tumor suppressive effect by binding miRNAs such as miR-17, miR-19, and miR-21 which were ultimately targeting PTEN [29]. This evidence concerns the gene PTENP1 and cancer.
