Further support for the potential of GPR55 agonists in the treatment of type 2 diabetes comes from two studies that have found that the GPR55 agonist O-1602 stimulated insulin secretion from wild-type but not GPR55 -/- murine islets of Langerhans (Romero-Zerbo et al., 2011; Liu et al., 2016). This evidence concerns the gene GPR55 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
