Intriguingly, the NF-kB signaling pathway was the top common pathway shared between KD and acute viral infections in children [90] and specifically NF-kB p65 was found to be excessively activated during the acute phase of KD, as a result of NF-kB p65 subunit directly interacting with the N protein of SARS-CoV-1 [91].
