In line with the CREDENCE trial, in patients with T2DM post hoc analysis [63] of two registration trials with ertugliflozin, a new drug in the class with high selectivity for SGLT2, confirmed that over 104 weeks of treatment, eGFR values were higher and UAC reduced compared with non-SGLT2i treatment, even though changes in HbA1c did not differ between the groups; with respect to this drug, data from the CV safety VERTIS trial, recently presented at the American Diabetes Association, including secondary composite renal endpoints are eagerly awaited. This evidence concerns the gene SLC5A2 and diabetes mellitus.
