Elevated MCT4 levels have been suggested as biomarker of poor prognosis in breast, bladder, pancreatic, hepatocellular, gastric, oral squamous cell and clear cell renal carcinoma, melanoma, soft tissue sarcomas, osteosarcoma, and lung adenocarcinoma (an extensive literature reference can be found in the Additional file 8) . The gene discussed is SLC16A3; the disease is lung adenocarcinoma.
