The CF inflammatory response to infection is more intense that in non-CF subjects [65], in particular to Pa, which activates the NLRP3 inflammasome through the release of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) [66] and other pro-inflammatory exoproducts that stimulate NF-κB and IL-8 production [67,68].
