Individuals with kidney disease (27%; cystatin C > 1.3 mg/L) had increased serum progranulin levels (74.32±20.8 ng/mL vs. 63.21±14.8 ng/mL, P < 0.001) (S1 Fig), which is consistent with previous findings [22, 23]. The gene discussed is GRN; the disease is kidney disorder.
