Detailed analysis of the responses showed that patients were fairly aware of “what type of disease is iTTP?.” The knowledge about “which abnormalities in the body cause TTP?” was low and it was not clear for all patients that ADAMTS13 is the protein with decreased activity in TTP that leads to the formation of blood clots in different organs of the body,1 despite its essential impact in treatment and long-term follow-up. This evidence concerns the gene ADAMTS13 and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura.
