As further validation, we applied CellDMC with the EPISCORE-derived breast tissue DNAm reference to identify DMCTs between 30 triple negative (TN) and 254 estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancers [47], which generally originate from distinct basal and luminal layers, respectively, and which should therefore exhibit DNAm differences mostly within the corresponding epithelial compartment. The gene discussed is ESR1; the disease is breast cancer.
