PTGER4 and infection: Further, to determine if the altered Ep2 and Ep4 expression found in diabetic wound monocyte/macrophages resulted in a functional impact on the ability of macrophages to clear infection we analyzed the ability of control and DIO wound monocyte/macrophages to phagocytize common bacteria in diabetic wounds, including unopsonized Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa), Escherichia coli (E. coli), and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
