Although the PGE2 pathway has been well studied in chronic inflammatory diseases (i.e., rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn disease) (7, 8) as well as infection (5, 6); little is known about the COX-2/PGE2 pathway in regulation of wound monocyte/macrophage function in normal and diabetic tissue repair. This evidence concerns the gene PTGS2 and Crohn disease.
