The results showed that the CASC8 rs1562430 GG genotype was significantly associated with increased risk of ESCC among men (GG vs. AA: adjusted OR = 2.47, 95% CI: 1.27–4.81, P = 0.008), patients younger than 63 years (GG vs. AA: adjusted OR = 2.50, 95% CI: 1.26–4.95, P = 0.009), non‐smokers (GG vs. AA: adjusted OR = 1.98, 95% CI: 1.05–3.73, P = 0.034), and nondrinkers (GG vs. AA: adjusted OR = 1.98, 95% CI: 1.07–3.66, P = 0.031) (Table 4). The gene discussed is CASC8; the disease is esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
