NOTCH1 and acute lymphoblastic leukemia: In roughly 60% of T-ALL cases, there is an aberrant expression of NOTCH1, a member of the Notch family of type I transmembrane proteins that function as receptors for ligands expressed neighboring cell surfaces (named Delta-like and Jagged in mammals) and whose signaling plays a fundamental role in cells by influencing the self-organization of cell diversity to the differentiation and proliferation, their behavior and morphology.
