CD79A and systemic lupus erythematosus: These observations, along with our recent reports showing pro-inflammatory immune phenotype of gut mucosa including higher amounts of large number of pro-inflammatory cytokines and plasma cells that appear in female SNF1 mice at juvenile age16,17, indicates that pro-inflammatory cytokines and IgA produced in the gut mucosa may be involved in the initiation and perpetuation of systemic autoimmunity in lupus.
