We speculated that the inflammatory response to SARS-CoV-2 infection may be the core in the pathogenesis of COVID-19, and the dysregulation of the immune and/or coagulation system will result in worse disease outcomes, such as ARDS, coagulopathy, and septic shock, etc. In our study, non-survivors had low levels lymphocytes and higher levels of neutrophils, D-dimer and CRP than those of survivors. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and COVID-19.
