The anti-inflammatory effects of CBD have been highlighted in the mouse model of multiple sclerosis, where CBD therapy lowered the level of proinflammatory cytokines such as interleukin 1 beta (IL-1β), tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), interferon beta (IFN-β), interferon gamma (IFN-γ), interleukin 17 (IL-17) and interleukin 6 (IL-6), and increased the levels of anti-inflammatory cytokines [interleukin 4 (IL-4) and interleukin 10 (IL-10)] [23]. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and multiple sclerosis.
