A meta-analysis of 33 studies of patients with ovarian cancer showed that overall survival (hazard ratio = 0.75, p < 0.001) and progression-free survival (hazard ratio = 0.80) in the BRCA1/2 mutation cohort (p = 0.039) were significantly extended compared to that of patients with no BRCA mutation. The gene discussed is BRCA1; the disease is ovarian cancer.
