It is currently not known whether mutations in CFAP52 affect male fertility although mutations in WD-repeat proteins, as e.g. in WDR66/CFAP251, WDR96/CFAP43, and WDR52/CFAP54, causing human male infertility due to the sperm flagella defects have been reported47–49. Here, CFAP251 is linked to male infertility.
