CSF1 and endothelial dysfunction: Leptin has pro-inflammatory activity (activation of macrophages, T and NK cells, the release of cytokines, interleukins IL6 and IL12 [30,35]), while simultaneously playing a role in endothelial cell proliferation and migration [46], platelet aggregation [46], and promotion of endothelial dysfunction (stimulation of the release of adhesion molecules, M-CSF (macrophage colony-stimulating factor), promotion of cholesterol accumulation, angiogenesis [30] and atherogenesis).
