To further investigate the crosstalk between cancer cells and TME, the indirect coculture assay was utilized, which showed that both HT-29 and Colo205 cells increased IL-6 secretion from fibroblasts (Figures 6(a) and 6(b)), and the mRNA level of IL-6 was predominantly induced in fibroblasts rather than CRC cell lines (Figures 6(c) and 6(d)), confirming that CRC cells could augment the production of IL-6 from the fibroblasts. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and cancer.
