KDR and astrocytoma (excluding glioblastoma): Sakabe et al. (2017) found that YAP regulates the activity of the small GTPase CDC42, the deletion of which leads to severe defects in endothelial migration and angiogenesis. Knockdown of YAP/TAZ alters the cellular distribution of VEGFR2 due to defective trafficking from the Golgi apparatus to the plasma membrane (Elaimy and Mercurio, 2018). Xu et al. (2019) reported that TAZ expression was correlated with vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2) immunoreactivity of ECs, and also with blood vessel density in a tumor (astrocytoma) model.
