SNO-PDI does not break down nascent amyloid fibrils (Figures 3A,B), which helps explain its inability to disrupt α-synuclein aggregation in brain tissue and neuronal cell culture (Kabiraj et al., 2014; Wu et al., 2014; Xu et al., 2014) as well as why SNO-PDI is found in brains afflicted with Parkinson’s Disease (Uehara et al., 2006). The gene discussed is P4HB; the disease is Parkinson disease.
